Oh Mariyamma   who lives  in punnai nallur,

Please put an end to our   evil fate

Munnai vinai vaattamal kaarum amma-indru

Muzhu nilavu  sithikalai  thaarum amma

 

Please protect me so that past karma   does not trouble me,

Please grant me  occult  powers  of the full  moon

Kaalayile   nee thaane   yezhuppi vittai- yenthan,

Kaal nadayil   nee thaane  thunai  irunthai

Vaadayile  nee thaane  porthi   vittai-indru

Varumayile  vaadukindren paarum amma

Yentha   vinayaanaalum  ottiduvai- indru,

Yengalaye   kaathidave  paadiduvai

Sonthamudan  thaaikku  nee   thaayamma-yendrum

Bandhamudan  unakku   cheyamma

 

Were you not  the one who woke me up in the morning

Were you not the one who gave me company  while  I  walked

Were  you not  the one  who covered me  in cool weather

Today  I am wilting  in poverty  , please  see

You will protect us  whatever  may be our fate,

Today to  protect  us   you will  sing

Apart being relation you are  mother of our mother,

Forever  apart from relation , I am your  baby
