English translation
Pallavi
Goddess, Except for your lotus feet,
What else is there for me to depend.
Anupallavi
Oh God Meenakshi who has a divine form,
Who delights the rich city of Madhurai.
Charanam
1.Are you no known as the protector of the helpless?
Oh chief of the world , Oh treasure of mercy,
Better than you no one is there, my mother.
Oh Goddess who enjoys chewing betel leaf,
Please see me with side long glances quickly,
And remove all my problems even if small,
And this is the time to protect me mother.
2.Oh peacock like goddess who is in the forest of Kadamba trees,
Are you not my mother , the consort of Lord Shiva,
Are you not the earthy one who killed Rakshasa called Chanda,
Oh Goddess who holds a parrot , Oh Goddess who does only good always,
To those who meditate on you , you give them salvation,
Oh queen of the divine Sada Shiva , Oh goddess who has pleasant voice.
3.Oh Uma, Oh Rema who is prayed upon by the black Krishna,
Oh witness of the world , please come to save me,
Oh Meenakshi if you delay it very much,
Does it appear just to you ?Why this drama?
I have been blessed with the sight of your feet,
And I have come to hear your words.
