Sri Partha sarathe pahi maam

Sri Partha sarathe  pahi maam

Translated  by
P.R.Ramachander

(This is a well known Malayalam film song .Hear it sung https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fi_62xzrPAg  )

Sri Partha sarathe  pahi maam
Sritha jana  palaka pahi maam

Oh Lord  Partha sarathy  , please protect me  ,
Oh protector   of those  who depend on  you , please  protect me

Kaarirul  chirakadicharkkum  ,
Bheekara  ghora   vanangaloode  ,
Vaththiya mizhi  neer chalugalil,
Thee kathum maru bhoomiyuloode,
AApad  bandhavaa  jnan  alayunnu,
jeevithamaam  yee  radham urulaathe(sree Parthasarathe..)

IN the midst  of fearful and horrible forests,
Where   deep darkness flaps  its wings with speed,
Along  with   the fire  burning desert,
Created  by the  dried  channels of tears,
I am wandering  oh saviour from dangers,
Due to the chariot of life  not  rolling

Mugdha  vikara  sathangal   pidayum,
Hruthu  oru ranganamallo,
Uthavar anbin   uruvakal udayavar,
Chuthum   nirayaai  nilkkukayallo,
ASritha   vathsala, jnan thaLaurunnu,
Aarodu adaraadum  yennu  ariyaathe (SRee Partha sarathe  )

With    hundrerds  of dumb  felings struggling
My  heart   is but only a stage ,
Though those  who have  the springs  of love of relationships,
Are   standing round me  in rows,
OH God who loves   those who depend on you, I am becoming weak,
Not knowing   with whom  I will fight

GAALINE POYA=By Annamayya

ANNAMAYYA KIRTHANA – అన్నమయ్య కీర్తన
Translated into English by Shaila Chandra  http://thoughtsaladforyou.blogspot.in/

GAALINE POYA గాలినే పోయ
[In this kirtana, Annamayya is expressing his desperation for liberation.]

పల్లవి
గాలినే పోయ గలకాలము
తాలిమికి గొంతయు బొద్దులేదు
gAlinE pOya galakAlamu
tAlimiki goMtayu boddulEdu

I have become aimless All the Time!
[Gaali means air or wind and also spirit or ghost. We can guess two meanings here:
1.       ‘I have become air’ that means I have become aimless like wind
2.      ‘I have become a ghost’ that means I have become ignorant without discrimination
I preferred to use aimless here for my understanding]
There is not even a little time for Patience!
[I can not wait to wake up now]

చరణం 1
అడుసు చొరనే పట్టె నటునిటు గాళ్ళు
గుడుగుకొననే పట్టె గలకాలము
ఒడలికి జీవుని కొడయడైనహరి

aDusu coranE paTTe naTuniTu gALLu
guDugukonanE paTTe galakAlamu
oDaliki jIvuni koDayaDainahari
daDavagA goMtayu boddulEdu

(All the time) Was spent to allow mire into the feet on both sides!
[The mire here may be sins accumulated by aimless and desirous wandering]
All the Time was spent just to wash it off!
Hari is the possessor of the body and the soul!
There is not even a little time to Delay!
[thadavu =  delay; thadavagaa = to delay
It is time to realize Him now without any bit of further delay]

చరణం 2
కలచి చిందనే పట్టె గడవగ నించగ బట్టె
కలుషదేహపుబాధ గలకాలము
తలపోసి తనపాలి దైవమైన హరి

kalaci ciMdanE paTTe gaDavaga niMcaga baTTe
kaluShadEhapubAdha galakAlamu
talapOsi tanapAli daivamaina hari
dalacagA goMtayu boddulEdu

(All the time) Was spent to worry and spill! It was spent to fritter and fill!
[All the time was spent to fret and cry and to spend foolishly and fill up again]
All the Time was spent only the suffering of this tainted body!
To contemplate on Hari the God to his own effect!
There was not even a little time to Ponder!

చరణం 3
శిరము ముడువబట్టె చిక్కుదియ్యగ బట్టె
గరిమల గపటాల గలకాలము
తిరువేంకటగిరి దేవుడైనహరి

Siramu muDuvabaTTe cikkudiyyaga baTTe
garimala gapaTAla galakAlamu
tiruvEMkaTagiri dEvuDainahari
daricErA goMtayu boddulEdu

(All the time) Was spent to do the hair! And was spent to untangle!
All the Time was spent in honour and deceit (being lofty and crafty)!
Hari the God on the revered Mount Venkata!
There is not even a little time to Approch (Him)!
[I can not wait to reach Hari]
