Kandan karunai puriyum vadive

Anupallavi

Arul oliyodum aavi kalanthe ,
Anbum asayum arivanaindhe,
Eerpaal undan idargal kalaindu,
Inbura cheythidum iraivan kai Vel*.
*Vel is the spear of Lord Subrahmanya.
Charanam

1.Vem pagai kondre vetti tharum Vel,
Veda porulai vilakkum mayil Vel.
Nambum adiyar nala valar pon Vel,
Nangai valliyin tiru nayakan Vel

2.Kundru thoradum kumaranin uru Vel,
Kola mayil natam konjidum selva Vel,
Andam nadidum aadhi magal,
Nam annai parashakthi arul chudar Vel.

English translation

Pallavi

Lord Subrahmanya has a merciful form

Anupallavi

With the light of grace mixing the soul,
Hugging along with love and affection,
Removing your problems due to attraction,
Is the God’s Vel which makes you happy.

Charanam

1.The Vel which gives you by killing your enemies,
The peacock Vel which tells you the meaning of Vedas,
The Golden Vel which gives comfort to devotees who have faith,
The Vel belonging to the Lord of Valli.

2.The Vel of the form of the God which plays in all hills,
The wealthy Vel which is endeared by the pretty peacock,
The sparkling Vel which is the grace of the Goddess,
Who is primeval and is wanted by all universe.
