Yeppadi padinaro-adiyar,
Appadi pada asai konden naan sivane

Apparum , sundar rum, aludai pillayum,
Arul manivasakarum porul unarnthu unnaye

Charanam
Guru mani sankararum , arumai thayumanavarum,
Aruna giri nadharum , arul jyothi vallalum,
Karunai kadal perugi , kathalinal urugi ,
Kanni thamizh sollinaal ininthu unnai , anu dinamum

English translation

Pallavi
Oh Lord Shiva, I wanted to sing about you,
The same way that your devotees sang about you.

Anupallavi
Like Appar, Sundarar , Sambandar and thiru Navukkarasar,
I want to sing about you understanding the meaning

Charanam
Like the great Guru Sankara , the dear Thayumanavar,
Like Arunagiri Nadhar,like the philonthrophist of divine light,
With the ebbing of the ocean of mercy , melting due to excess of love,
Using the virgin tamil words ,daily and sweetly , Oh Lord

Kayinil vel piditha karunai siva balanai

Vandu isai paadum yezhil vasantha poongavil,
Vanthe sugam thantha kanthanai , yen kanthanai

Neela mayil thanai nenjamum marakkavillai,
Nesamudan kalantha pasamum maraya villai,
Kola kumaran mana koyilil nirainthu vittan,
Kuru nagai thanai katti naru malar sooti vittaan.

English translation

Pallavi
From the day I saw the son of Lord Shiva,
Who is merciful and holds the Vel,
My love for him is ebbing out.

Anupallavi
In the pretty garden where the bees sing,
The Kandha who came and gave me pleasure

Anupallavi
My mind has not forgotten the blue peacock,
The affection mixed with love has not vanished,
The pretty Murugan has filled my mind,
And he shows his slight smile and ,
Makes me Wear the flowers on my head.

2. Kaviya cholai athan kavi azhage,
Adhan kavinjargal karpanaikku oar perum suvaye ,
AAvi magizhum thamizh thendral athe ,
Ithu amuthinai kottuthu par ithan aruge-jnana

English translation

Pallavi
This is the lake of the lotus flowers of wisdom,
From that the honey of pure Tamil is ebbing out.

Charanam
1.This is not the river made out or rain of poems,
And the pretty birds of Tamil are roaming and singing.

2. The beauty of its poems are in the garden of its epics,
The imagination of its poets has got a great taste,
It is the breeze of Tamil that adds joy to the soul,
And see that it is pouring nectar near it.

Theyatha pugazh mevum thiruvanmiyur valar,
Thenaar mozhi valli , jagamellam padaitha.

Kamadhenu vanangum karuna roopini,
Kan oliyaal karunai kattum dayapari,
Sama gana magizh sada siva param ,
Yenum thani marunthu udayai , pini yellam kalaivai.

English translation

Pallavi
Oh Mother Tripurasundari, Oh great goddess Uma,
Oh black one , oh pretty one , I surrender at your feet.

Anupallavi
She who is in Thiruvanmiyur whose fame never diminishes,
Goddess whose speech is like honey and who has created all the universe.

Charanam
The form of mercy who is being saluted by Kamadhenu,
The merciful one who shows mercy by the light of her eye,
She who has the medicine called Sadashiva ,
And she who enjoys Sama Gana , Please remove all my ills.

Oh God with Vel of the south Pazhani,
Oh god who stood as the lighted lamp in my mind forever
Oh teacher of Lord Shiva who wanders in my mind

Oh God of Pazhani , who became the fruit ,
That Lord Parameswara gave.

Pretty God , God of mercy,
A baby god , A God who is a lad.

God seen by Valli who was in love,
God who stood within our eye ball,

If I call Muruga, Muruga, would not your mind melt,
If I call you, please come , come , wont you come along with mercy.

Oh Kandha who showers your grace ,
If day and night I call you

Have you started hating me by the mistake I did without intention,
Oh pretty one who has only love, are you angry,
Please pardon the mistakes of this lowly one and shower your grace,
Oh God of Gods who lives in the great Thiruchendhur.
