Kanivennu ulavakumo, karmukhil varna

 

Oh ocean of mercy , oh lord of Lakshmi, would you,

Get mercy  on me , Oh Lord with colour  of black cloud

 

Anupallavi

Saranagatha  jana palana, saraseeruha  dala lochana

Kari rajanin kadhanapaha, garudasana, mura sasana

 

He who looks after  people who surrender, The one with  eyes like  lotus petal

He put an end to sufferings of elephant king, who sits on Garuda, who kills  Mura

Dharani suthanaam thava  mithram, oru pidi  avilaal

Nedi alavillathoru vibhavangal  nin thiru arulaal

Hariyennoru thiru namam, ura cheithoru cheru balan

Garalam  athine amruthaakki akathaakkeedina  kadhayellam  ariven

 

Your friend who is son of earth , with one clasp of beaten rice

Got measureless   great things, by your divine grace

One boy  who once  told  one divine name of Hari

And I know the story of your converting poison he took in to  nectar.
