Singara Velan vandan yenai aala

Anupallavi

Pongu aadharavodu adangaa magizhvodum,
Perum kadalodum ayyan ,
Thanga mayil yedai thanga vadivinudu

Charanam

Kandar paniyum anbar kondan
Karunai kol mukundan,
Marugan murugan
Mundhai vinai bhayanda bhayam tholaitharuli.

English translation

Pallavi

The pretty God with Vel came to rule me.

Anupallavi

With increased care and insuppressible joy,
The God who goes to the great sea,
Mounted on a golden peacock and with a lions form

Charanam

With devotees prostrating before him,
Muruga, the very generous nephew of Mukunda,
Removed the fear of fate from previous births and blessed me.
